SEA WOLF VOYAGES
Vinland Village
As a living history museum, one of the main goals of Sea Wolf Voyages is to construct a living history museum location and venue that recreates life in a North American (known to the Vikings as "Vinland") Viking settlement. The goal is to exhibit the history of Viking age Scandinavia and beyond from farming, cooking and textile manufacture to a historical ship building site complete with with moorage for our ships and other local historical vessels. Working with the talented and learned members of the Northwest Viking Alliance, The Glamfolk, Northwest Shield Wall, as well as many other local organizations, museums, individuals and companies to build and populate the Village, every employee and volunteer will have a wealth of expertise about the subject matter.
The experience will begin in a traditional museum with exhibits that include authentic and recreated artifacts from iron age Scandinavia and the areas where the Vikings were known to have sailed and settled.
Guests will then be able to exit the museum into the living history village and get to see, and participate in, the daily life of a working Viking age village.
Vinland Village will also be set up to host overnight camping, and will serve as a venue for programs like Viking Camp and our Maritime Cultural Collaborative as well as school field trips, weddings, corporate events, faires, markets, and various other educational, fundraising and charitable events.
Working with other local museums, historical and indigenous groups, Vinland will also help to support those who support us, and when and where possible, have adjacent living history museums that can provide original joint programs and events.
